MY NAME IS SUNG-HEE SEEWALD. I’M A PHOTOGRAPHER AND ARTIST BASED IN MUNICH.
"Sung-Hee Seewald sieht Menschen aus einem ganz besonderen ästhetischen Blickwinkel.
Ihr Geheimnis ist das Einfache. Sie beobachtet, lächelt, drückt auf den Auslöser - und heraus kommt der unverwechselbare Seewald-Look, eine raffinierte Mischung aus Glamour und Reinheit."
- Dr. Rebekka Reinhard | Philosophin
"Sung-Hee Seewald regards people from a very special aesthetic point of view.
Her secret is simplicity. She observes, smiles, presses the shutter button - and the result is the unmistakable Seewald-look, a sophisticated mixture of glamour and purity".
- Dr. Rebekka Reinhard | philosopher
THE WAY I PHOTOGRAPH WOMEN IS INCLUSIVE. NOT EXCLUSIVE.
The world for women is changing. It’s time to embrace that and produce imagery for these women.
Does the unknown or the unseen make us feel uncomfortable?
My work on FEMALE DIVERSITY shows the diverse female body. I stage natural body forms as artistic lines in the picture, with lines, wrinkles, curves and the smallest details in the skin. The beauty and individuality presented in this way should help to question our conditioned view.
Why is female beauty so restrictedly represented in the omnipresent images? Why are characteristics that the vast majority of women display considered flaws?
The one-sided representation of women is accepted and women try to adapt to the ideal instead of contradicting it. We see female stereotypes in the media but what a female body really looks like is concealed.
“FEMALE DIVERSITY - we are not here to make you feel comfortable”
The short film FEMALE DIVERSITY in collaboration with my brother and director Boris Seewald portrays within a small selection of women, typical characteristics which every woman knows and which the vast majority of female bodies have, but which are retouched, concealed or simply not displayed at all in media.
Lines, shapes, and features build the key elements of compositions of black-and-white imagery yielding an uncommon staging of female totality.
I love faces, characteristics, people and stories of people - that’s why I love portraiture.
I’m a photographer and a mother.
When I combine both - that’s when my heart skips a beat.
