HEY, I’M SUNG-HEE.

I’m a german photographer based in Munich, exploring the theme of female totality with my photographic point of view.

Don’t you think women are not yet enough shaping our world and society? Don’t you think our world could be way more feminine?

Me, too.

That is what drives me, inspires me in all of my work: I want women to get into their power. Including myself. I want us to shape and create in all areas women had been left out from. Equality (not revenge, you get it).

I want women to explore: Their power. Themselves. Their femininity.

Female lives are changing. A huge transformation is happening. Let’s be part of it.

BIO

Sung-Hee Seewald was born in Frankfurt, Germany, 1979.

At the age of 14, Sung-Hee lived in Seoul, South Korea, for 1,5 years, attending Sun-Hwa Art School.

After returning back to Germany, Sung-Hee graduated school (Abitur) in 1999 and bought her first SLR camera soon after.

From then she started a vocational training in 2001, assistant in photography in the field of advertising in Frankfurt. And continuing being a freelance photo assistant in the field of still life advertising photography.

From 2007, Sung-Hee started to work as a portrait and beauty photographer. 

In 2011 she packed a backpack and traveled to Australia, South-East Asia and New Zealand on her own for adventures apart from the advertising photography world.

Returning to Germany, Munich was the new destination for living and working. She got married and became a mother.
She built up her career as a portrait photographer with a focus on women with her own studio in central Munich.

From questioning the advertising beauty photography and how a restricted female image is represented in media, Sung-Hee started her body of work FEMALE DIVERSITY in 2017 to show what a female body really looks like and to change our perception towards it. 

Sung-Hee is now well known for portraits of women in their professional context.
Also for her body of work FEMALE DIVERSITY and her recognizes short film to the project: “FEMALE DIVERSITY - we’re not here to make you feel comfortable”, which she created with her brother Boris Seewald, director and editor.

Her current body of work GÖTTINNEN // GODDESSES has been exhibited in 2023 and is still work in progress.

In 2022, Sung-Hee has found the shirt brand UNIQUITY - statement apparel for females. An e-commerce brand for shirts that uplift and empower females.

Sung-Hee Seewald lives with her husband and two children in central Munich, Germany.

The name is Korean. SUNG means implementation, HEE means joy.

Nomen est omen. I’m made in Germany where I live with my husband and two kids in the beautiful city of Munich.
